Karen Minson and Chase
Karen owns and operates Kamar Labrador Retrievers & Border Terriers, as well as Kamar's Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort and Training for 14 years. She is an AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen Certification) Evaluator and evaluates and tests all Penny’s From Heaven Foundation therapy dogs for AKC certification, as well as TDInc certification.
On the flip side, she is owned and treasured by her dogs – especially 'Chase.'
'Chase' has rapidly assumed a very significant place in PFHF and quickly qualified as a PTSD SUPPORT DOG within the organization, working miracles with closed head injured patients weekly at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute, focusing on a new patient every fifteen minutes. His work with the patients is observed by physical therapists and/or occupational therapists and then recorded in the patient’s records. 'Chase' recently joined the elite team visiting the wounded warriors at the Fisher Houses at Brooke Army Medical Center.
'Chase' has a beguiling and fascinating ability to bring out the best in his patients. And almost without exception is a ‘chick magnet’ for women! Take it from me, you only have to meet him once to see why. Referred to by a top national judge as the ‘perfect gentleman’s dog,’ this home bred American and International Champion show dog, finds relaxation in chasing the local peacocks and pulling their plumes out. He is also lovingly referred to as the Bull Dozer because he uses his big handsome head to open doors and to gently push his way through knees to say hello and get head scratches. He loves angel food cake and has been known to steal a taste of fried chicken and an occasional frosted mini wheat!
He is an amazing dog and an asset to the foundation and a blessing to his patients. Chase is happily busy changing lives, one at a time.
