Anna Beekman and Sprocket

Nine year old Sprocket is a magnet for patients! One look and people fall in love him and begin to tease that he is the 'Budweiser dog.' But what he really is, is a calming influence in a chaotic world for many patients struggling to heal. Instantly, people are drawn to him because of his one blue eye and one brown eye. It is then that conversations are initiated, and people unaccustomed to dogs, find Sprocket a pure delight.

For this former stray dog, mending hearts is his job. It is easy to see why this unruffled and tranquil dog has been blessed with a heart shaped spot on the center of his back.

Sprocket visits hundreds of patients each week at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio, both in the rehab gym and in group support.
